  • One can (20 ounces) apple pie filling
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • One teaspoon cinnamon
  • Four tablespoons butter, divided

  • 2/3 cup milk
  • One teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Eight tablespoons cold butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts, optional
